Picture Update

So shutterfly has finally made sharing pictures much easier. Yay! They now have a way to share your photos on one page, similar to a blog. We've updated the site and added some new photos of Jules and our vacations this summer. The password is ellington. Enjoy!

New Tricks

Just had to post a few pictures of Juliann's new accomplishments! She's been able to sit up for a few weeks now, but the other day she learned how to push herself up to a sitting position. I was shocked the first time I realized what had happened! She had been down for her afternoon nap on Wednesday the 20th and began crying. Sometimes she'll fuss and go back to sleep. Other times she's had enough and wants out NOW! Since she hadn't had her full nap yet I let her fuss for a few minutes. Suddenly she went from fussing to full out screaming. I went into her room only to find her sitting up in her crib! I couldn't believe it! I left her crying (I'm such a bad mom) to run and get the camera. This was something I had to document!
She was so upset because she couldn't figure out how to get back down onto her tummy or back. After I got her up and calmed her down, we went downstairs to play. I watched her repeat her new trick over and over again, quickly realizing that we'd need to lower her crib or we'd be in for some trouble! That night we attempted to lower her mattress and poor David cut his thumb in the process. :( A number of times recently we've gone in to get her up only to find her already sitting and ready for us!

Today was another first for Jules, but not such a big milestone as last week! I heard her moving around during her morning nap and could tell she was playing quietly with the stuff in her crib. She wasn't fussing or crying so I decided to let her play for a bit. A little while later it sounded like she had gotten herself back to sleep so I went in to check on her. I was surprised to find her sleeping like this:
She fell asleep with her little body between her legs. How cute is that?!? Thought you all might like to see what my little peanut has been up to lately!

Oh-and I had a few people tell me about problems with posting comments. New to this blogger thing I didn't realize I had to set it so that you all could post without having to create a profile or something. Anyways-problem fixed. Comment away!

Ed School Girls + babies

As requested, here is a picture of a visit from our get together with the ed school girls (as David calls us). We spent the day checking out Carrie and Erin's new houses, catching-up, and playing with babies. Jackson and Jules were adorable with their good-bye kiss. She's already such a little flirt...David has been warned by several different people to watch out when she's 16!

Beach Babe

Good-bye mountains, hello beach! After being home less than 2 weeks from our Colorado vacation, we packed up the car and headed to Holden Beach. The 6 hour car ride was not so much fun, but it was completely worth it. As much as I enjoy our activities in Colorado, THIS is my true vacation-sitting on the beach all day with a good book. However, things were a bit different this year courtesy of you-know-who. But I can't complain because Jules appeared to love the beach as much as her mom! When she wasn't playing in the pools of water at low tide, she was being held by someone, playing with her toys on a towel, or sleeping in her tent. I absolutely LOVE the little nursery tent we bought on Amazon for $20-very worth the $$$. The week went by way to quickly and we kept wishing for just a few more days. We already looking forward to next year. Below are a few pictures of Jules on her first beach vacation:

Happy Half Birthday!

On August 1, Jules turned 6 months old! It is so hard to believe that she's half a year old. Time has just flown by over the last few months and she is so active and fun now! Because we were heading to the beach for vacation shortly after her half birthday, we didn't really celebrate. However, we wanted to mark the occasion by getting professional pictures taken. We went to Portrait Innovations for the $9.95 one-pose special and walked away much lighter in the wallet! Juliann took some amazing pictures and it was so hard to decided which ones we wanted for the special so we ended up getting a bunch of different pictures. Here are some of my favorites:
